Emiri Diwan

Doha, Qatar 2009

The Amiri Diwan, the governmental headquarters of the Emir built in 1989 in Doha, the capital city of Qatar, is the symbolic, ceremonial and administrative heart of the country. The quiet but detailed lighting of the imposing, symmetrical building complex is composed of numerous lights integrated directly into the architecture itself. The lighting design accentuates and compartmentalizes the individual architectural elements of the palace. After dark, the lighting concept visually links other close-by downtown projects of the Amiri Diwan — the Grand Mosque, Clock Tower, Horse Stable, Falcon Market and Al Koot Fort — into a distinctive ensemble.
