Nassauische Sparkasse

Wiesbaden, Germany 2000

The function of the location — a stairwell in constant use, with people going up and down, back and forth — is the conceptual starting point of the piece. The idea of movement is taken up by the ever-changing light. The art is perceptible in passing and its dynamic is comprehensible, as every time the stairs are used it looks different. The technological implementation involves a total of 60 light modules installed underneath the stairs and walkways. The colors and brightness are controllable and transform constantly and smoothly in slow temporal progressions.
