Organic LEDs are now considered the light source of the future - but they are only produced as flat panels. The idea - as simple as it is convincing - to develop an OLED light source that can be turned into a conventional socket like a light bulb was already born many years ago by Thomas Emde. Meanwhile, he holds a patent portfolio that is essential for the production of the OLED bulb and - together with renowned partners from research and development - has already taken significant steps towards a prototype. The first OLED bulb lights up - even though mass production is still a long way off!
